Welcome to the web site of
HELSBY FOOTPATHS SOCIETY
Suggested Walks
The Alvanley, Helsby and Manley footpath map includes five suggested walks. These are entitled “Helsby Quarry and the Hill”, “Over the Marshes”, “a Taste of Manley”, “a Commonside Circuit” and “a Longer Walk through Alvanley and Manley”. A copy of  the first two in PDF format can be got by clicking below. Each is headed by the length and approximate duration. We recommend use of the local map for use on the walks but the Ordnance Survey Explorer series map 267 (Northwich & Delamere Forest) covers both if you haven't got our local map.

 PARKING

There is a car park at the top of Station Avenue off the A56 near the centre of the village but it is usually full during weekdays. There is also parking outside the station but this too is full during weekdays. There is a car park at the Quarry Woodland Park on Alvanley Road where there is usually plenty of room. It is almost opposite Hill Road South and the start of  F/p25.  If you are making use of facilities at the local pubs (see below) they may well be willing for you to make use of their car parking areas while you are walking.
